Father's Day 2008

Wow! What can I say about my Husband. No words could express how important he is and the things that make him a father! I think it best put by his 6 year old son, Travis! This was his Father's Day card to Berto!

So HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to those who are Fathers, who one day will be Fathers, who have a Father and for those who have the heart of a Father!

Updates and the Week!

Gosh...it has been a long one with School getting out, Vacation Bible School and Berto's Mom and Dad in Virginia! Berto and I had our hands full. We both still worked and Split our days so we could take care of the kids this week. I took early shift and Berto took late shift at work. Worked out great, but we didn't see each other too much. On top of that was a fantastic week at VBS. Busy! Travis took a neighbor friend and they had fun and I hoped learned a little that will stick with them for the rest of their lives! Here is a few pictures from the last week!
Nery got Alex this Pirate suit- ARGHH Matie!

Pre-bunk beds in Alex's room! We just got some bunk beds for his room! FUN!

SCHOOL'S OUT!!!!
Tata came to see Travis on his last day! After we went to Cici's to eat Pizza! Cool thing there is they have this machine where if you land a quarter on a platform you get a Free Buffet! TRAVIS DID IT! Awesome. We already paid for food, so they gave us the value in money to play at the arcade!

Travis and his Teacher Mrs. Purcell. She was out on Maternity, but came back for the Day. Travis's Awards: All year A Honor Roll, Excellent Citizenship, Perfect Attendance, Readers are Leaders and 1st Grade Completed!

This was Travis Sub while Mrs. Purcell was out. We loved her too! How Awesome that God allowed 2 Fantastic Teachers help him accomplish and grow in Education! This was Mrs. Rose.

Then Came VBS....ALL WEEK!
Like I said above, Travis took a friend and they had a Great Time. They built a Rock Wall Climb they did everyday- The Theme was ROCK SOLID! Our God is Rock Solid, His path is always right. Our God is Rock solid, He will lead us all of our days. God's word is Rock solid, His truth that shows the way. God's Word is Rock solid, a light for all our days. As I write these words I have humming the theme music also! Of course, this was the musical. If you know anything about New Liberty...everything involves a musical! Hard to get a picture of Travis in musical, but here was the group of them!

Toben Edney

SPECIAL PRAY REQUEST FOR MY NEPHEW...I am copying most of what my sister-n-law wrote on their blog because it is perfect and easy to understand.

Toben is having surgery on Wednesday for his nevus. Here is some info to explain what Toben's skin condition is and what they are doing.

He has what is called congenital melanocytic nevus. It occurs in 3-4 babies out of a million. Toben's spot is mild compared to many, whose entire back or torso or legs are covered with the nevus. And it is especially good that his nevus does not involve anything such as the ear or eyebrow and that there is some good (non-nevus) skin around it. The nevus is a group of cells with the melanin pigment. It is also usually very hairy, and with his being on his head, it is extra hairy. This spot has the potential to become melanoma later. Along with this, there is a condition that affects a small number of people, called neurocutaneous melanosis. This condition could cause epilipsy and hydrocephalus. We are very sure that Toben does not have this condition, as people who have it have their entire spine and neck covered with the nevus. As for treatment, some people choose to remove them and other choose to just monitor. Since Toben's is on his head and the hair is so think and grows so fast, it is hard for them to monitor it. For the health risk, the difficulty in monitoring, and psycological reasons they have chosen to have it removed.

He will go on Wednesday to children's hospital in Dallas and use one of the best surgeons in this field to have tissue expanders placed in his head. These expanders will be placed underneath the good skin around the nevus right underneath the skin. They will wait a couple of weeks for all those incisions to heal. Then they will start to inject saline in them every few days. This will make the good skin expand and grow. They will do this for about 12-16 weeks, so it will be a long process. Once there is enough of the good skin, their surgeon will take out the expanders, cut out the nevus, and pull the new skin over. Amazing!

Toben's surgery is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Please keep them in your prayers. Please pray for the doctor, Dr. Jay Burns, and the nurses. Please pray for the anesthesiologist. Please pray for his pain and that he will be comfortable.
